The 170,000 total reservations for the Silverado EV are evidence of the excitement it has inspired among truck purchasers in Nederland, among other locations. This is mostly due to its powerful appearance and performance, but there are hardcore EV fans who are also looking ahead to its release. Whether or if it prompts significant interest in and purchases of electric trucks among commercial fleets and individual consumers remains to be seen. The Chevy Silverado EV, built on the powerful Ultium platform, is an attempt to revolutionize the pickup truck market. Chevy is ahead of the game from the get-go because of its zero-emissions technology, extended range, pickup capabilities, creative storage, and powerful styling. In this article, we’ll highlight the EV Silverado battery life, in addition to the total charging time it takes to return the battery to full. But first, let’s take a look at some of the most exciting features of the Chevy Silverado EV interior and performance specs.
For power, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST has a pair of motors—one up front and one in the back. These motors include a “Wide Open Watts (WOW)” mode that allows them to produce 754 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque for a short period of time. 4.5 seconds is all it takes to go from 0 to 60 mph while in Wide Open Watts mode (GM estimate). The Watts to Freedom (WTF) mode on the Hummer EV SUV and Pickup is functionally equivalent to this.
The 2024 Silverado RST has a towing capability of 10,000 pounds and can haul 1,300 pounds of cargo. With the optional Multi-Flex Midgate (standard in RST First Edition), the bed length can be expanded to slightly over 9 feet, providing more storage space between the cab and the tailgate. To do this, the rear seats must be folded down (they are divided 60/40).
The Multi-Flex Tailgate is a further available add-on that allows for the storage of longer objects (standard in RST First Edition). It has a load floor and storage capacity of up to 10’10” and six distinct uses. In addition, the back window may be taken out for further convenience while stowing items.
GM’s internal estimates place the range at over 400 miles, so they don’t think buyers will have any distance concerns. The most powerful Ultium battery pack, with a 200 kWh capacity in its top configuration, is in the works for this truck. Up to 350 kilowatts of electricity may be supplied to the 2024 Silverado EV RST using 800-volt DC fast chargers. This means that with these types of chargers, the EV Silverado battery life may be replenished in about ten minutes.
The battery pack in the 2024 Silverado EV RST may be used to charge other electric vehicles, power lights and appliances, and run power tools. GM’s electric pickup is compatible with its own ‘PowerBase’ charging system, which features up to ten standard outlets. Through designated ports on the vehicle’s cargo deck, the Chevy Silverado EV may also provide up to 10.2 kW of electricity to external components. This is a game changer, especially for those who camp or enjoy other Vidor activities.
